Lodge Le Chevreuil
Please note that the heated pool is available from mid-June to mid-September.
This pretty chalet for up to 10 guests is at the end of a quiet road between the ski villages of Le Grand Bornand and Chinaillon. It's just a 750 m walk to the nearest ski lift at Chinaillon, but the ski bus stops just 150 m away.
And when you return to Lodge le Chevreuil after a day on the pistes, you can wind down and warm up in the sauna or the hot tub. Highly hygienic and modern, the Skarsgard DualBurner works very efficiently in terms of heating, with a filter system to make sure the water stays clean. Thanks to its cover, it is safe for children (although parental supervision is of course requested at all time).
Guests visiting in summer will appreciate the fantastic outdoor pool (heated from mid June to mid September) and decking, which gets the sun almost all day (the pool has an automatic childproof cover). In the winter, the large garden is a great place to build snowmen and have snowball fights! A stream runs along the bottom of the garden.
You'll find a great choice of shops and restaurants in both Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand, and the tourism office always has a packed programme of activities in the summer and winter seasons.
About the property ...
Accommodation at Lodge Le Chevreuil is spread over three floors.
The main entrance is on the ground floor, but if you're returning from a day on the pistes, the basement entrance will take you straight in to the ski room - where you may leave your ski equipment and pop your boots on the warmer ready for the next day. You might want to warm up in the sauna before heading upstairs - you'll find it in the master bedroom, which also has an en suite shower room and opens on to the terrace.
There's also a laundry room, a WC and a second kitchen on this floor - perfect for preparing food if you are eating on the terrace, or for any guests who would prefer to cater for themselves.
The main kitchen is on the ground floor, and has a range-style cooker, a large fridge freezer and everything else you'll need to cook for a crowd - you can even bake your own bread! There's plenty of room for everyone at the long dining table, and doors open on to the large balcony so that you can admire the view over a glass of wine while the kids slide down on the sledges. After your meal, you can gather on the sofas around the fire to watch a film, play a family game or plan another great day in the Alps. There's a twin bedroom on this floor, as well as a bathroom and a separate WC.
As you head up to the first floor you'll find a landing area with a leather lounger, where you can curl up with a book. There are three bedrooms up here too - the first has two built-in double beds and a shower room with WC. There's also a double room and a twin room, which share a shower room with a WC.
There's plenty of parking for up to five cars at the front of the chalet.
About the area ...
You can walk from Lodge Le Chevreuil to the ski lift at Chinailon (750 m), but if you’d rather save your energy for the slopes, the ski bus stops 150m from the chalet every 15 minutes.
There's a great sledge run nearby, as well as the start of the cross-country ski piste. Beginners in this sport will love the nearby Evo Nordic Park, which has a circuit featuring a variety of terrains, while boarders will appreciate the Snowpark.
Non-skiers can go ice-skating in Le Grand Bornand or La Clusaz. If guests prefer swimming try the heated indoor and outdoor pools in La Clusaz which are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
At the end of a busy day, head back to your cosy chalet where there's nothing more magical than unwinding around the fire, while the snow falls outside on the magnificent scenery.
In the summer, a network of walking and biking trails cover the mountains around Lodge Le Chevreuil, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist offices in Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand. For those who want to test their cycling stamina, the nearby Col de la Colombiere regularly features in the Tour de France.
There’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
The medieval town of Annecy is a must for a day out, whatever the season. It offers a unique mix of shops, restaurants, galleries and museums, and Lake Annecy, said to be the cleanest lake in Europe, is a great place for watersports, swimming, cycling or just relaxing on the beach.
August sees the International Children’s Festival in Le Grand Bornand - a week of puppet shows, circus acts and workshops, with a grand firework finale. You’re in the heart of Reblochon country, so on your travels don’t forget to pick up some of this delicious cheese from a local farm or market!

The OVO Network Review
Lodge Le Chevreuil is a three-storey chalet for 10, with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. We love the location, which is close to great skiing both from Le Grand Bornand and Chinaillon.
This is a great choice for summer guests too, with the superb swimming pool (available from June to September) and decked area in the large garden. There is an automatic cover for the pool, but children should always be supervised in this area.
Note that the hot tub is available between June and December on request.
There's plenty of flexibility in the sleeping arrangements. The master suite has a double bed, shower room and sauna, and opens on the terrace.
Another double and a twin bedroom share a bathroom, and a further twin bedroom has a shower room next door. The final bedroom has two built-in double beds - great for four kids, or perhaps two adults - and an en suite bathroom.
The main kitchen is fully equipped and opens on to the dining area, and there's a useful second kitchen in the basement which comes into its own in the summer - you can cook or prepare food in here for a barbecue on the terrace, grab a snack when you're lounging by the pool or perhaps get meals ready for the children while dinner is prepared upstairs.
There's plenty of parking outside the chalet, but with the lifts close by, and the ski bus stopping just 150m away, you may not need to move your car once you're here!

From the owner
Marianne R.
Each time we drive up to the Aravis, we are captivated by nature’s beauty. The surroundings are so peaceful, and the busy city and our daily life feel so far away when we are at Lodge Le Chevreuil.
We enjoy walking up the mountain to the nearest farm to buy fresh Reblochon. Or Tomme de Savoie? Or both? Every time we step into the chalet and look around, we feel like home!
